Rich Dad Poor Dad

Robert T. Kiyosaki
MoneyMindset
An asset puts money in my pocket. A liability takes it out. Most people buy liabilities and call them assets.

Lessons learned

01
Assets versus liabilities.

The house, the truck, the gear. If it costs me money every month, it's a liability no matter what the bank calls it. I buy things that pay me first.

02
Work to learn, not to earn.

Kiyosaki took a sales job to learn how to sell. I did the same thing without knowing it, and the skill has outlasted every paycheck.

03
The rich don't work for money.

They build or buy things that produce income, then let the income do the working. This is the whole reason I own gyms instead of just coaching in one.

04
Mind your own business.

Keep the day job, but spend the extra hours building something that's yours. The job pays the bills while the asset column grows.

05
Fear and greed run most decisions.

The paycheck-to-paycheck loop is driven by both. Noticing which one is talking is half the fix.

Who should read it

Anyone who has never been taught how money works. The stories may be embellished, but the asset-and-liability lesson is the one that got me started.
