Hurry isn't a schedule problem. It's a heart problem that shows up in the schedule.

Lessons learned

01
Hurry is the enemy.

Comer borrows the line from Dallas Willard and it stuck with me. Being busy isn't the issue. Being rushed inside is what wrecks attention, patience, and relationships.

02
Silence and solitude are skills.

The first ten minutes alone with no phone are uncomfortable because I've trained myself out of it. Like any skill, it comes back with reps.

03
Sabbath is a practice, not a reward.

One day a week with nothing to produce. I resisted this for years and it turned out to be the most productive thing I do.

04
Simplicity is a decision.

Fewer things, fewer commitments, fewer open tabs. Every yes I remove gives the remaining ones room.

05
Slow down on purpose.

Drive the speed limit, take the long line, put the phone in another room. Small frictions that retrain the nervous system.

Who should read it

Anyone who feels behind even on days when nothing is due. It's a faith-based book, but the practices work for anyone.
