Lessons learned
01
Choose your problems.
Life is always going to hand me problems. The only choice is which ones are worth having. Good problems are the ones I'd pick again.
02
Pain is the signal.
The things that hurt point at what I actually value. Instead of avoiding the discomfort, I read it.
03
Responsibility without blame.
It may not be my fault, but it's always my responsibility. That one sentence got rid of a lot of waiting around.
04
Certainty is the enemy of growth.
The more sure I am, the less I learn. I try to hold my opinions a little looser than feels comfortable.
05
Say no.
Commitment to a few things means rejecting a lot of things. Every yes I give out of politeness is a no to something I said mattered.
Who should read it
People who are tired of positivity advice. It's self-help for people who don't like self-help.
